High tenacity and high modulus PE fiber, also called the Ultra High Molecular Weight PE(UHMWPE) fiber, was a kind of high technology high performance fiber came forth at the beginning of the 1990¡¯s. As one of the world three high technology fibers(carbon fiber, aramid and high tenacity and high modulus PE fiber), UHMWPE fiber¡¯s tenacity is the highest one in all of the fibers nowadays as it¡¯s high molecular weight, high interlinking, high degree of orientation and high Crystalloid. Its tenacity is 15 times to high quality steel and 10 times to normal chemical fiber, This fiber also has the characteristics of low density, high modulus, UV resistance, corrosion resistance, outstanding anti-impact and anti-incision, etc. It also can be widely used in national defense weaponry, such as light weight high performance bulletproof plate and bulletproof helmet, soft bulletproof vest, anti-thrust vest. Other application fields are composite material for aviation and spaceflight and ocean shipping, rope for navy vessel, tow net for ocean halieutics, anti-stormy waves net in blue water, sports equipment and construction reinforcement composite material. At present, there are only the DSM (Holland), HONEYWELL (U.S.A), SANSEI (Japan) can produce this fiber and all of these three¡¯s yearly output were only 4500 tons. Since the 1990¡¯s, this fiber was stipulated by the Coordinating Committee about the blockage of the technics and technology, and the products couldn¡¯t be sold to the technics and technology, and the products couldn¡¯t be sold to the Socialism countries for national weaponry. In order to promote our national chemical fiber industry, our Company had begun to develop the UHMWPE fiber since 1996. After 4 Years¡¯ efforts and large number of research input, our company has achieved the industrialization in 2000. All the indexes of technology and economy of this fiber meet the requirement of the congener products in the world. This product has been listed the State Major Scientific and Technological Item to Tackle Key Problem and National Torch Plan by the Science and Technology Ministry. And it is also listed in State Commercialized Hi-Tech. Projects and State 863 Plan by National Development and Reform Commission. Our company has become the fourth company which owns the independent intellectual property right in the world. Now, our first period of production has formed the yearly output of 500 tons of UHMWPE fiber and it¡¯s series of products. Both the production and distribution are developing in good status. With the development of the world market, our company is preparing to enlarge the yearly outputs to 1000 tons to meet the demand of the market.
